List of Local Experts on Local Topics

I keep reading messages about alternative energy sources and more importantly people's desire to switch providers -- likely in response to recent higher electric bills.

This reminds me of similar messages on the Lexington List about switching providers for:
  • Oil, for people who burn oil for heating
  • Internet Access providers, for people who like information
  • Cable TV, for people who like to be entertained
  • Grocery stores, for people who eat or who enjoyed last summer seeing the workers win one for a change

Each time, I seriously wonder whether switching is really going to have the desired effect -- usually lower cost, higher satisfaction.  So I look to a Local Expert about a Local Topic.  Sure, I can find experts about a topic on a state or national level, but I want to identify a Local Lexington resident who knows about the subtle issues faced by a Lexington resident on a given topic.

This leads me to generalize this concept to "Local Experts on Local Topics".  These are people who:
  • Are extremely knowledgeable about a subject.
  • Have a track record of answering questions about this subject on the Lexington List.
  • Offer their advice freely (and transparently if they are a participant in the subject area).
  • Offer objective advice:  i.e., their advice is free of politics or personal gain.

Of course these last two categories are difficult to determine and conclusions are reached after reading many posts.

Do you have people to remind me about (other than yourself) who fit the description above?  Please send recommendations to Harry Forsdick (harry@forsdick.com)

With that introduction, here is my list.
